Our Town

Montrose is known for having the widest High Street in Scotland. The town has a beautiful view of a tidal lagoon, Montrose Basin. It has an important commercial port for the oil and gas industry. Between the High Street and the beach, there is a lovely area known as the Mid Links with a mile of parks. There are also the golf courses, the main one being the 1562 Golf Links. Beyond the courses lies the magnificent beach which attracts swimmers, families and dog walkers.

On Sunday 25th August District Chairman Jean presented Certificates of Appreciation to two of our Golden Girls – Kate Hogg and Pam Cranswick  of the Montrose Club.  Both ladies are much loved senior members of the club  having both served twice as President – Kate being the founder President .  All present were delighted to celebrate their joint service of over 100 years!  The presentation took place at the George Hotel where the club were holding their President’s Afternoon Tea – their traditional start to the new Inner Wheel year to welcome new club President Helen Griffith – a happy relaxed afternoon.

Centenary Celebration & 72nd Rally – Carnoustie

Inner Wheel Day

Members from our 3 neighbiouring clubs were invited to join us for an Afternoon Tea to celebrate the Centenary, on IW Day.  A very happy occasion.  At exactly 2.30pm musicians from Montrose Acedemy struck up “Happy Birthday”.  Lots of memories, an excellent spread & a fun quiz kept everyone entertained.

Founder Chairman Kate Hogg is invited to cut the cake – Kate is one of the “Golden Girls” in District 1
