Where do we meet?
Perth Inner Wheel is part of Inner Wheel District 1, and we meet at the Royal George Hotel, Tay Street, Perth. PH1 5LD. Meetings are held at 2.15pm on the first Thursday of the month. No formal meetings are held in July & August but coffee mornings, fundraising and social events continue throughout the year.

Our Club
Perth Inner Wheel Club was chartered in 1946, currently has 25 members and meets in the heart of the city. The Club has regular monthly meetings, normally with a speaker and has a full programme of events and outings. Through the programme, lifelong friendships are forged. The Perth Club has a remarkable history of community service. As society and people’s priorities have changed, so has Perth Inner Wheel. We are even more inclusive, welcoming ladies of all ages and backgrounds.
Our City
Perth is known as The Fair City after Sir Walter Scott’s 1828 novel “The Fair Maid of Perth”. During the late medieval period the city was also called St John's Toun or Saint Johnstoun—a reference to its principal church, dedicated to St John the Baptist. The city’s football club preserves the name as St Johnstone F.C. The city often called "The Gateway to the Highlands", a reference to its location on the major routes north.

History of Coffee
A sumptuous afternoon tea was enjoyed in the George Hotel by guests from many neighbourting clubs. We were entertained by a most interesting and informative talk about coffee - by coffee expert John Bruce. John answered the many questions put to him by members while explaining the history & spread of coffee drinking throughout the world. John & his wife own The Bean Shop further up George Street and import, roast & grind coffee for a variety of businesses. Click to see gallery pf pictures below.
DC Jean's visit at Christmas
President Sue Hendry welcomed District Chairman Jean Hale to their December meeting and Christmas Lunch on 5th December. Members enjoyed a delicious meal and a challenging quiz. It was a lovely day with Christmas greetings and friendship all round.

Crafting Projects
Our knitters have completed over 100 beanies for premature babies at Ninewells Hospital. They have also completed 13 blankets and are still knitting . . . .

Our next challenge is to produce these Trauma Teddies

A treasured project

This tree was planted by the club at Kincarrathie House as part of the Queen's Green Canopy in March 2022 and is flourishing still. It was augmented by members planting bulbs around it for the Inner Wheel centenary year.
Perth Club members have met over the summer on a weekly basis - most of the time lovely sunshine to sit in the garden. Members have managed to discuss many topics and the world has truly been 'put to right'. At the same time these coffee mornings have raised over £200 towards their charity funds.
Knitted teddies and blankets

At the beginning of our 80th Inner Wheel year, the President announced a theme for every meeting and hinted the number 80 would feature. Among the themes, we aimed to knit 80 trauma teddies, provide 80 pairs of pants and knit 80 squares for blankets. As we approach the end of the year, we realise our counting skills are a bit rusty. We produced 120 teddies (and they seem to be breeding!), 100 pairs of pants and several hundred knitted squares. The teddies are on their way to Ukraine, the local ambulance station, the prison visitor centre, and so on. The pants and bras are for Smalls for All and the finished blankets have gone to Hamlin Fistula, complete with tags in English and Amharic attached, as they are off to Ethiopia.
