Aberfeldy & District

Fun & Friendship

Where do we meet?

Aberfeldy and District Inner Wheel is part of Inner Wheel District 1, and we usually meet at the Horizon Room, Town Hall, Aberfeldy – however due to renovation works we have moved temporarily to the Bowling Club.  Meetings are held at 6.30pm on the last Wesdnesday of every month.  No formal meetings are held in July & August but coffee mornings, social events and funraising events continue throughout the year.

These photos below were taken by DC Jean on her travels to visit Aberfeldy Club.  They show General Wade’s Bridge (built in 1733),  scenes of the spectacular landscape and River Tay as well as the famous Black Watch Memorial.

Our Club

Aberfeldy and District is one of the youngest clubs in our District.  It was first chartered in 1990. We currently have 14 members.  As well as the monthly meetings members enjoy coffee mornings in members’ homes, regular walks and outings as well as fundraising for local and international projects.  Recently we have collected generous amounts of food for our Community Larder and supported Rotary’s concert for SCAA  and with their annual Thrift Shop. We are also helpers at  the Aberfeldy Show, the Highland Games and the Sports Festival.

Club Projects

As we were unable to get a speaker from Perth Women’s Aid to come during the 16 days of the Orange the World campaign , the members of Aberfeldy club have managed to arrange it for January they are coming to speak to us on January 28th. We have rearranged our meeting time to 2pm with an afternoon tea. We are linking this with collecting toiletries and anything you might need if leaving home as a result of an abusive relationship for International Inner Wheel day. Which will be donated with a cash donation on the day of our meeting.

The club has also collected goodies for the Community Larder to distribute to people in our area who are struggling with poverty.

District Chairman Visit

DC Jean visited Aberfeldy Club on 30th October and was hosted by MOC Diana Taylor. Jean is with President Yvonne in photo below. The main purpose of visiting is to get to know members and provide a short talk.

In this new venue, a caterer delivers hot meal in a crockpot. The members set up and serve, make teas/coffees and provide cakes. Members assist with the washing up but that can be a time of fun and friendship too. Washing up  (ltoR) Christine Munro, Kathy Pearson, Liz Bruce, Betty Lea and Ailsa McPherson.
