Fun & Friendship

Where do we meet?

Inverness  Inner Wheel is part of Inner Wheel District 1, and we meet at Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness IV2 4LF.  Meetings are held at 12.30pm for 1pm  on the first Thursday of the month.   No formal meetings are held in July & August but coffee mornings, fundraising and social events continue throughout the year.

Our Club

Inverness is the largest club in our District.  We were chartered in 1959. We currently have 56  members.  As well as the monthly meetings members enjoy coffee mornings knitting and all types of crafts, regular walks and outings as well as fundraising for local and international projects.

Our City – Inverness

Inverness is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.K. it scores highly in terms of quality of life for residents. Located in the centre of the Scottish Highlands beautiful scenery surrounds us and the city itself is picturesquely situated on the banks of the River Ness. We have many tourist attractions in the area , the most popular being Culloden Battlefield and Loch Ness where visitors always hope to catch a glimpse of the elusive Nessie.

Inverness Burns Supper

On Thursday 6th February Inverness Inner Wheel Club and Inverness Rotary Club enjoyed a joint Burns lunch. 70 people attended and we were welcomed by Rotary President John Cuthbert. Our own Heather carried in the haggis accompanied by Doug Stewart on the fiddle. John addressed the haggis and Sheila Moir, our Secretary said the Selkirk Grace. We all enjoyed a meal of haggis neeps and tatties, coffee/tea and shortbread. After lunch we were entertained by songs from Mairi Cuthbert, our President, and her husband John, some fiddle and guitar music and a couple of recitations. A most enjoyable time was had by all.

Quiz Night for RNLI

A very successful Quiz Night was held at the end of November.  This was a joint event with the Rotary Club of Inverness.  Over 100 were in attendance in spite of adverse weather predictions.  After the quiz a supper was served and a raffle was drawn.  Sadly District Chairman Jean & her husband Tim were unable to make the trip – following Police & Traffic Scotland ‘s advice for travel during Storm Bert!  Club Secretary Sheila Moir made these lovely wooden spoons as prizes – in the shape of Lifeboat crewmen! Way to go girls!!!  WELL DONE Inverness!

Christmas meal and raffle

Inverness IW had a splendid Christmas lunch at the Kingsmills Hotel on Thursday for over 80 members and friends. People were very generous in buying gifts from a wonderful craft stall, raffles, jigsaw and holly wreaths raising £1500 +.  We were beautifully entertained by members of Inverness Choral singing carols.  Thank you everyone for a great afternoon.
