Auchterarder & District

Fun & Friendship

Where do we meet?

Auchterarder & District  Inner Wheel is part of Inner Wheel District 1, and we meet at Auchterarder Golf Club, Orchil Road, Auchterarder PH3 1LS.  From November, meetings will be held at 12 for 12.30pm on the first Thursday of each monthNo formal meetings are held in July & August but coffee mornings, fundraising and social events continue throughout the year.

Our Club

Auchterarder was chartered in 1982 which means we recently celebrated our 40th Anniversary. See pictures.  We currently have 32 members.  As well as the monthly meetings members enjoy regular coffee mornings, knitting & crafts, group  walks and outings as well as fundraising for local and international projects.

November Activities

This has been a very busy month for club members.  Volunteers work on a rota at the Foodbank and at Cosy Places; some are busy knitting blankets; 50 boxes have been filled with goods and are on their way to the Ukraine.

A highlight will be attending the upcoming Andre Rieux Concert. What a busy club! Well done!

Suitcases for Zambia

In October, Auchterarder and District Club invited Nat and Fiona Chalamanda to update members on their last visit. Nat and Fiona collect clothes, jewellery and suitcases to take out to Malawi. The suitcases are then used to store the clothes.

Many of Nat’s family live in the village of Chalamanda and Nat is actually the chief of the village, a responsibility he accepts very seriously. Nat and his family make regular trips to distribute donations and give encouragement to the young people in the school.

The couple, who are well known musicians in the local area, left with more contributions for their next trip.

Christmas Meeting

A couple of photos above to show Auchterarder & District Inner Wheel members enjoying last year’s Christmas meal  and also giving 65 gifts to Womens’ Aid for children.

Summer Outing

Members enjoyed their end of year outing to Glamis Castle – the sun shone and we were enthrawled by the many tales told by a very entertaining guide.

A recent visit to Glamis Castle proved very popular with members.

December Meeting

President Margaret welcomed members to the Golf Club in December.  Members brought gifts for Women’s Aid at their Christmas meal  ( with an orange theme).    200 items were donated to Women’s Aid – mostly toys for their children. These gifts ensure a Happy Christmas for those in need.

January Meeting

The first meeting of 2026 was held on 8 January when members, together with Rotary guests, enjoyed a very informative talk from Kate Simpson who enlightened us all about the many aspects of Crime Stoppers which can advise on almost any problems relating to crime.  As our effort to recognise Inner Wheel Day members donated a total of 62 items of toiletries, treats etc to Women’s Aid for the use of women using the service at this particularly challenging time of year. We were also visited by another potential new member whom we hope to welcome to future meetings.

Visit of District Chairman

District Chairman, Jean Hale, visited the Auchterarder Club on 5th September.  her first club visit of the year.

Shehad the pleasure of inducting 2 new members to the Auchterarder Club at her visit. New members Joyce Dalgliesh and Rhoda Colvin are seen above with Jean and President Renee.

Sponsored Walk

A very successful sponsored walk was organised in aid of Riding for the Disabled (RDA). RDA has been enriching lives of adults and children for over 55 years. There is a therapeutic benefit for people with disabilities working with horses and RDA is primarily run by volunteers.
